HMCI Sir Michael Wilshaw has written to head teachers to inform them of changes to the Ofsted framework coming into effect in September. His letter states,
‘From September 2013, inspectors will look more closely at the progress of the most able and of disadvantaged pupils before judging achievement to be good. Where the achievement of disadvantaged children is a concern, inspectors may recommend an external review of pupil premium spending.
[…] The School inspection handbook and Subsidiary guidance have been revised to reflect the above changes. Further amendments include new guidance on the inspection of careers advice and guidance, and use of the new primary school sport funding’.
The updated documents will be available on the Ofsted website by the end of July 2013.
NAHT will be monitoring the impact of these changes and will issue revised guidance for members as required.
