NAHT comments on plans to help pupils get more help from school nurses

Following the announcement of plans for pupils to get more help from their school nurse, Russell Hobby, general secretary of the NAHT, said: “We welcome attempts to make school nurses more accessible for worried pupils. School nurses are a cornerstone of the overall package of care available to young people; they do a marvellous job and we would support any proposals that give pupils greater access to their sensible and trusted guidance. We would, however, hope that any scheme to boost the service is accompanied by additional government funding and not sought from ever-dwindling school budgets.”
