In her independent report, ‘Foundations for Quality’, Professor Nutbrown sets out 19 recommendations to improve the skills and knowledge of those who work with young children.
Russell Hobby, general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT), said: 'NAHT welcomes the constructive proposals in the final report of the Nutbrown Review, presented to the government on 19 June 2012. Full account has been taken of the views and concerns of the sector and this is reflected in the report's wide ranging content.
“The government has demonstrated ambition and vision for the early years sector and the NAHT urges ministers to consolidate this by fully meeting the logistical and funding challenges that the proposals present.
"The impact of the early years is profound. And it is the talent, care and dedication of the people who work there that makes the difference. It should be a career of the highest status and respect. These proposals will take us further in that direction."
