Following Michael Gove's speech at independant think tank Policy Exchange, where he appealed to union leaders to rethink the strike action planned for 30th November, NAHT general secretary Russell Hobby made the following comment:
"At a time of conflict, responsible leaders calm tensions and make efforts to see the other side's perspective. I actually felt that Michael Gove's speech did this. He is perfectly entitled to represent the government's aims and we welcomed his recognition of our own - and the real concerns the profession has. Let's not follow the scripts that the extremists on both sides have prepared for us."
