Course description

This course prepares appraisers for their demanding role in the appraisal process, reflecting the 2012 Appraisal Regulations.  Combining input, discussion and practical activities, this course will be structured to meet the needs of individuals and groups on the day.

Aims of this course

  • understanding the statutory requirements of appraisal in schools

  • consideration of appraisal and its links to School Development Planning, CPD and capability procedures

  • reviewing and exploring elements in the appraisal cycle

  • exploring management issues related to implementation of the processes, including the appraiser's role in improving poor performance 

  • consideration of the specific skills required by appraisers

  • development of a personal action plan
