Understanding the Inspection Framework

Understanding the New Framework

Course description

This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the new Ofsted inspection framework (September 2012).  It will cover how the framework has changed and the practicalities of what to expect during an inspection.

The course facilitator will help you to unpack each of the judgements within the context of your own school.  Information will also be provided about spiritual, moral, social and cultural development (SMSC), special educational needs, and the application of basic skills across the curriculum.  There will be a particular focus on leadership and management throughout the day, including the place of self evaluation and school improvement planning.  The course will combine information-giving with practical activities to help develop your understanding of the new framework and its implications for your school.

Please note that this course will cover approximately 30% of the content in "Raising the Bar in Your School".  However, it does have a different central focus and alternative activities.

Equipment

Please bring a copy of your last inspection report.
