Course description
Employees are the most valuable and expensive resource, and their contribution to the school significantly influences the outcomes for pupils. Schools are under constant pressure to ensure value for money and Ofsted, in its inspection of Teaching and Learning, has a clear expectation that schools will address poor performance.
The Appraisal Regulations are now in place in schools, providing a platform to move to formal procedures if performance falls short of management expectations. Sickness absence impacts on pupil outcomes, work colleagues and the school budget.
This new course explores in more depth the management of poor performance and the transition from appraisal to the formal Capability Procedure.
It also considers the procedures for the effective management to potential dismissal on capability grounds.
Delegates will use case studies to inform the course outcomes listed below.
