Managing School Buildings - A new online service for head teachers and their staff

School Building

Managing School Buildings is a new online training and information service, devised and offered by the University of the West of England, aimed at ensuring that your school or college buildings are working to help you deliver good quality education.  An alternative training tool, this online course gives you the flexibility to study when and where it suits you, provided that you have a broadband internet connection.

 

You can access the service in two ways:

 

Option 1: Online Information Centre and Professional Forum

This option offers:

 

  • accurate up-to-date guidance on all legislation and regulations relating to managing school buildings

  • links through to the relevant web pages and resources from national government and other organisations

  • competency training to identify and source the additional training your staff needs

  • an opportunity to post and get feedback on specific building management questions from experienced industry professionals

 

Website Subscription

A subscription to access the online information centre and professional forum for one year is £99 + VAT.

 

Option 2: Online CPD Programme

The Managing School Buildings CPD online short course programme provides head teachers and their support staff with a good understanding of the management strategies and procedures needed to ensure a value for money, well-maintained, healthy and safe learning environment for staff and pupils.  The programme covers the following topics:

 

Topic 1 - Introductory Overview

Topic 2 - Buildings Management Strategy and Planning

Topic 3 - Health and Safety and Access for the Disabled

Topic 4 - Risk Management and Legislation

Topic 5 - Procurement

Topic 6 - Sustainability

 

This programme:

 

  • is delivered entirely online so you can study whenever and wherever you want you want from any suitable computer anywhere in the world

  • offers two hours of tuition with industry professionals - each of the six topics in the programme takes about two hours to complete

  • gives practical instruction designed to get you working on managing your school buildings right away

  • includes downloadable topic notes, flowcharts and tables to keep as a handy reference

  • enables you to revisit the programme as often as you like over one year

  • results, on successful completion, in the award of a CPD Certificate by the University of the West of England
