AGM 2008 decisions

The Annual General Meeting of NAHT took place at 9.00 a.m. on 3rd May 2008 in Liverpool.

Key policy decisions taken at the event were as follows:

 

Motion 8.  Subscription for 2009

Proposer:  National Treasurer
Seconder:  Eric Fisk
      National Council


That the subscription for the year 2009 be:


Full Members
      Head Teachers           £299
      Deputy Head Teachers         £250
      Assistant Head Teachers        £200
      Life Members    (Single payment)    £299

      Professional Associate Members      £149.50
      Overseas members will be charged a surcharge of 20%

 

Motion 9.  Report by Working Group Established by Resolution of the AGM 2006

Working Group established by the AGM

In the light of the consultation, the Working Group Established by Conference wishes to explore further:

 

  1. How individual members are best represented
  2. How to achieve effective communication for individual members and at all levels of the Association
  3. Enabling processes and detailed costings that will be required to implement the Final Report.


The Working Group will present a Progress Report to the Branch Oficials’ Meeting on 5 December 2008 and produce their Final Report to the AGM 2009.

 

Motion 11

Rule 4 Eligibility -  Proposed Amendments

 

  1. In rule 4.4 delete “to act ……. School Standards and Framework Act 1998” and substitute the words “to act in a temporary capacity in any of the posts in 4.1, 4.2,
    4.3, 4.7 and 4.8”.
  2. In rule 4.5 delete the word “is” and substitute the words “has at any time been”.
  3. Add new rule 4.8 “A person who, in the opinion of National Council, is involved in education leadership.”


Notes:  The proposed change to rule 4.4 brings the existing provision regarding acting posts up to date and extends the ability to be a member when in an acting capacity to
those eligible under rules 4.7 and new 4.8.  
The proposed change to rule 4.5 recognises changes to the safeguarding arrangements.
New rule 4.8 gives effect to the decision of last year’s AGM regarding extended eligibility.
