Leaders of Children’s Centres and Extended Services

As a leader of a children’s centre and/or a provider of extended services within your school you will be aware that these provisions are at the heart of the Government’s policy for all children and families.  They are also an integral part of the Every Child Matters Agenda, with initiatives heralding a new way of looking at the integration of education and care, family support, adult training, health and outreach centres.

The government have set a target of 3,500 children’s centres by 2010, one for every community, with early education now a legal requirement for which providers must be registered, must follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and must meet welfare regulations.  Such rapid expansion has led to this becoming a complex area.
