Bursars and School Business Managers are increasingly to be found in all types of schools with responsibility for school finances, often as a member of the strategic leadership team. Although the exact nature of the role will vary from school to school in the light of local circumstances, typically the post carries the responsibility for implementing the finance policies of the school, financial processing and budget monitoring on a day-to-day basis. Some individuals will do much more than this and support the head teacher by undertaking financial and resource management tasks.
