A school-based consultancy programme for senior leadership teams and subject leaders

Changes in the school inspection arrangements and in performance management procedures have placed the responsibility for judging the quality of teaching on schools themselves.  Many schools have welcomed the change to self evaluation, but recognise that some staff lack the confidence to trust their own judgement about teaching standards, or the experience in recording evidence about teaching.

 

This programme is suitable for

Programme Aims

This school based consultancy aims to develop the skills and experience people already have and the things they already do well, rather than focusing on what’s wrong or what needs to be fixed.  It also recognises that moving teaching from a good/very good standard to excellent is not easy.

 

Programme Delivery

By assessors accredited to assess Advanced Skills Teachers and the recently-introduced Excellent Teachers. These assessors are highly skilled in analysing the difference between very good and excellent teaching and are used for moderating evidence about teaching.  In addition, they are experienced in working in schools in other contexts, as trainers, advisers and consultants to develop classroom practice.

 

The standard programme takes a day and a half and the approach is flexible to meet the needs of your school and the participants.

 

The first half day enables the senior leadership team and the consultant to work together to explore and evaluate current practice and identify the focus for development.

 

he whole day visit can be used for training, coaching or work in the classroom such as paired observations.  Customised programmes can be further developed.
