The gradual expansion of the Academies programme is one step towards providing all schools with the necessary flexibility and freedoms required to deliver the best possible service to the communities they serve; but different models suit different schools and there are no panaceas or quick fixes when it comes to education.
NAHT General Secretary, Russell Hobby comments:
"We encourage all Academies to remain part of the family of schools: collaborating with other schools, consulting staff and parents and providing inclusive education. The profession should not, and I believe will not, let this usher in a fragmented or privatised education system. If a school achieves success in isolation, while others are struggling, it is a shallow victory."
