Pupil premium needs to do what it says on the tin

The Department for Education has published its funding consultation, focussing primarily on the distribution of the Pupil Premium.  The document can be found at www.education.gov.uk/consultations.  

The Association is supportive of a pupil premium and is keen to see that it ‘does what it says on the tin’.  It is important that any such funding is allocated to address the needs of disadvantaged pupils and does not disappear under the weight of other calls on school budgets.  We will continue to press for a national funding formula for ALL schools to ensure that the distribution method is fair and equitable.  Please feel free to send any comments on the funding consultation to Kathryn James at NAHT.
