The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) was recently reviewed by Dame Clare Tickell, Chief Executive of Action for Children. This consultation seeks your views on the Government’s proposed changes to the EYFS.
As you may be aware, Dame Clare has gathered views from a wide range of individuals and organizations, and examined the latest evidence about young children’s development. Dame Clare also looked at ways to reduce the administrative burden for providers, without compromising quality and standards. Dame Clare’s findings were published on 30th March 2011 (www.education.gov.uk/tickellreview).
Having considered Dame Clare’s recommendations, the Government is now consulting on proposals for a simpler, stronger and more effective EYFS, to be implemented from September 2012. A revised version of the EYFS framework, reflecting Dame Clare’s recommendations, is published with this consultation document. The consultation documents can be accessed via the following link:

The NAHT believes that all children must have the right to a high quality education in early years as recommended in recent research and it is important that our members’ views contribute to the final NAHT response to the Department for Education. Please send your comments or observations to me on Jeanne.adkins@naht.org.uk
Members' contributions to the consultation on a Revised Early Years Foundation Stage are sought.
