Reporting and Assessment Arrangements for 2012

results shown as a progress report

The Department for Education has just released information and guidance on Assessment and Reporting Arrangements in 2012 for Early Years Foundation stage and Key Stage 1.  In addition, they provide a guide on how the Standards and Testing Agency (an executive agency of the DfE) develops tests.

Assessment and reporting arrangements (ARA) and Teacher assessment and reporting arrangements (TARA) contain the statutory information and guidance on all aspects of National Curriculum assessment and reporting for the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. They cover topics such as administering the tests, access arrangements, teacher assessment and reporting pupils' achievements to parents.

The ARAs and TARA are updated and sent to schools and local authorities every year. The EYFS and Key Stage 1 ARAs can be downloaded from this page. The Key Stage 2 ARA and the Key Stage 3 TARA will also be available shortly.

If you are responsible for assessment and reporting in either the Early Years Foundation Stage or any of the key stages it is important that you read the appropriate ARA or TARA and are aware of any changes from the previous year.
An ARA for the Year 1 phonics screening check will be available in January 2012.

If you would like to download these documents they can be accessed on the DfE website.
