SATs Campaign Resources

bundle of papers clipped together

Please find attached resources prepared for members to make formal protest about the continuation of the SATs regime in KS2. NAHT have congratulated the Government for taking the bold step of scrapping the SATs in KS3, but there can be no valid reason for keeping them in KS2. We need to make our voice heard, but equally we want the Government to hear from parents and governors, so please support the campaign by doing the following:

  • Send letter to Chair of Governors

  • Send letter to Chair of PTA/Friends of School etc.

  • Send survey out to parents

  • Write school’s letter – we have sent a template but if everybody simply sends that in, 10,000 letters = 1letter. Originality is the key – and if you can ask a question in your letter - (e.g. evidence from our school suggests that SAT scores do not give a reliable assessment of pupil progress; is there any national data to support this view?) – so much the better as the recipient is then bound to provide a reply.

  • Fill in the on-line survey of test reliability (we need at least a thousand responses to make this survey reliable).

We will let you know about the level of response, this will be an indication to our Branch and Regional Officials meeting on 4th/5th December about the strength of support there is for an extended campaign.

It would be very helpful if you could forward copies of the letters and questionnaires to the Campaign Group, details of which can be found by following the link below.
