Colleagues will recall the “End SATs” Petition that was a feature of the “SATs Pack” that was sent to all members in the Summer Term. Many thousands have signed already, from teachers and parents to other interested parties. Support is also growing among authors and celebrities. Colleagues are asked to continue to encourage supporters, parents and members to sign the petition. The closing date is 31 October 2009, and the intention is to publicise the number of signatures received to coincide with the opening of our consultation process with members on SATs at the beginning of November (letter to all members to follow on this shortly).
Colleagues are asked, if they have not done so already, to return the petition sheets either to NUT (address on the petition) or to NAHT HQ as soon as possible and certainly no later than 31 October.
