SM09 - Conducting an investigation

Schools may need to carry out investigations in response to complaints as well as in relation to disciplinary and grievance procedures.

The investigation of any allegation should always be carried out thoroughly and responsibly, irrespective of whether an allegation/concern appears to be trivial or serious. The outcome of the investigation will have significance not only for the person making an allegation or raising a concern, but also for any member of staff against whom an allegation has been made.
