The National Union of Teachers (NUT) and the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) have issued “Action short of Strike Action” instructions to their members, to be implemented on 26 September 2012 (changed to 3 October). The instructions were issued following national ballots so, while members taking part may be acting in breach of contract, they may be afforded limited protection from dismissal. Sanctions short of dismissal can nonetheless by applied should the employer consider such action to be appropriate.
Employers should receive notification, of the action, directly from NUT and NASUWT. September 2012
