Pupil Nationality (and other) data

New pupil data collection arrangements were put in place at the beginning of the 2016 academic year including requests to parents to disclose additional information about their childrens' nationality, country of birth and English language proficiency.

The provision of this additional information is, however, completely optional and parents are under no obligation to provide this additional information if they don't want to.

Opposers to this step by the DfE believe it to be both dangerous and divisive and allege that the information will be shared with the Home Office and other immigration agencies.

This advice paper sets out the current position and, more importantly, what you, as school leaders should be doing now.
