School Self-Evaluation: Preparing for Ofsted

When a school receives the call from the Lead Inspector, on the afternoon prior to a section 5 inspection, the inspector will request that “a summary of the school’s self-evaluation” is made available.

Ofsted no longer publishes a Self Evaluation Form (SEF) for use by schools.

However, Ofsted has made available on its website two very useful documents:

• “Preparing a school self-evaluation summary” (including a template)

• “Subsidiary Guidance”

We understand that the section of the template entitled “The context of the school” is of particular interest to Inspectors.

Please click on link below and open the zip file beneath.
