Part of the role of the head teacher, along with the Chair of Governors, is to be the representative for his or her school and there will be occasions when you seek to promote the good work and achievements of your pupils and staff to the wider community.
This may include highlighting excellent examination results, celebrating sporting attainment or the opening of a much-needed new classroom block.
This guidance document aims to advise and help you on achieving the best possible publicity for your school.
A separate document 'Working with the Media 1' is also available, giving information on how to handle unsolicited approaches from journalists in difficult circumstances for your school.
