A guide to headquarters

Our purpose

  • Passion
  • Protection
  • Voice
  • Support
  • Connection

NAHT exists to help make the job a great one, to be at your side in times of trouble, to say the things you want said, to help you do your work well, and to bring you together for strength in numbers.

All parts of the association contribute to these goals, especially branches and regions. HQ has a specific input within the wider structure.

Our HQ structure

General Secretary: Russell Hobby
Deputy General Secretary:
Nick Brook

HQ is organised into five directorates plus human resources. Each is led by a member of our senior leadership team. The directorates work closely to achieve our aims – policy will inform advice and advice will highlight where policy needs to work, for example.

Representation and advice
Director:
Paul Whiteman
Advising members on management, legal and employment issues and facilitating representation from regional officers or solicitors.

Democracy and governance
Head of department:
Magnus Gorham
Helping branches and regions to operate and ensuring members' views are heard.

Policy and campaigns
Director:
Valentine Mulholland
Developing NAHT policy, analysing, influencing and negotiating on government policy and initiatives, conducting research and liaising with the media.

Marketing and Membership
Interim Head:
Charles Veal
Keeping members informed through the website, publications, emails, recruiting new members, managing our commercial activities, delivering CPD, conferences and bespoke training.

Human resources
Director:
Lisa Cockram
Supporting managers and staff throughout the employment cycle.
