Secondary coasting calculator

In 2017 a secondary school will be coasting if:

  • In 2015, fewer than 60 per cent of pupils achieve 5 or more A* to C GCSE grades (including English and maths), and the percentage of pupils making expected progress in English and maths is below the national median (see below).
  • 2015 progress medians: English 73 per cent and maths 68 per cent.
  • In 2016, the school has a Progress 8 score below -0.25 and the upper band of the 95% confidence interval is below zero.

A school must fall below the coasting level for all three years (2015, 2016 and 2017) to be considered coasting.
