Ofqual's letter explains new GCSE grades

GCSE grading is changing and help is needed from schools to make sure everyone understands it.

New GCSEs in England will be graded from 9 to 1, with the A* to G system gradually phased out over the next few years. Maths and English will be the first GCSEs to use this new grading system in 2017.

Secondary schools and colleges have received a letter from Ofqual Chief Regulator Sally Collier. In the letter, Ofqual is asking for your support to communicate the new 9 to 1 system to your students, staff and to parents.

Please share the information as widely as possible so that everyone is aware of the changes.
