Special Schools

Members of leadership teams in Special Schools face challenges that will have a profound effect on the education of children with special needs. The SEN Committee of NAHT covers:

  • SEN provision, including mainstream schools, support services, advisory services, units and bases, pupil referral units and special schools, whether day or residential, maintained, non-maintained or independent,
  • Assessment of SEN, and educational psychology services,
  • Inclusion: the continuum of education and the dual role of special schools,
  • Working with government to develop and influence policy aimed at improving the quality of education for all pupils with SEN.
